The 2020 vintage is famous for the wrong reasons; that was the year that much of the West Coast was on fire. We were able to dodge some of the smoke with most of our wines, though Petit Verdot was trashed and unusable. I will never forget the experience of sorting our Syrah with the team as the smoke rolled in. The skies were clear, bright and blue at 8am as we started dumping the bins; by noon, the sky was orange as we were foot-stomping them and put them away back in the main room to let nature kick start fermentation. 2020 was going to be a great vintage till the smoke came along. We think this is elegant, focused, savory and, frankly, exactly what we think Walla Walla Valley Syrah can be.
